Toyota Technical Education Program

The T-TEP program began at Honolulu Community College’s Automotive Technology Program in September 1991, with support from Servco. Since then, Servco has expanded the program to include Leeward Community College and Kaua‘i Community College. Each year, Servco makes donations to the participating community colleges, providing tools, training aids (such as simulators), and even vehicles.

As part of the program, Automotive Technology students at Honolulu CC, Leeward CC, and Kaua’i CC are eligible for the T-TEP scholarship. This scholarship covers tuition reimbursement for the remaining credits toward the Automotive AAS degree, offers manufacturer-led instructor training, and provides part-time paid employment with Servco as a Technician Apprentice. In this role, students will be mentored by our internal technical training team and will have the opportunity to shadow a Journeyman or Lead Technician. The T-TEP Scholarship Program has successfully supported over 50 students to graduation, with nearly half currently employed at Toyota Hawai‘i dealerships. Additionally, three former graduates now serve as instructors at University of Hawai‘i Community Colleges.
