This past weekend, Team Serve joined First Hawaiian Bank in a Community Huki with Mālama Maunalua to remove 1,540 lbs. of invasive algae from Maunalua Bay!
Once flourishing with an abundance of diverse fish, plant, and marine life, rapid urbanization resulted in its decline. Mālama Maunalua’s mission is to restore the health of the Bay.
All of the invasive algae gathered was donated to Maunalua Fishpond Heritage Center to be recycled and used as natural and organic compost.
