HONOLULU — Servco is proud and humbled to announce its recognition as a recipient of the first‑ever “Kōkua Kahiau” Award, presented by Pacific Business News to organizations and individuals who selflessly uplift our community.
The Hawaiian phrase kōkua kahiau embodies the spirit of giving without expectation, a guiding value that has steered Servco’s long‑standing commitment to community service and engagement.
At the awards celebration, our CFO, Ruth Fukunaga Uejio, and Community Relations Manager, Lauren Pelascini, represented Servco, accepting the honor on behalf of the organization.
From its earliest days, under the leadership of founder Peter H. Fukunaga, Servco embraced the philosophy that education and giving are powerful tools for enduring community impact. Today, our focused efforts span youth development, access to basic needs, and support for music and the arts — all essential building blocks for strong and thriving Hawaiʻi communities.
Our volunteer program, Team Serve, continues to translate that commitment into measurable impact. In 2024 alone, Team Serve raised $110,000 for Aloha United Way, logged over 22,000 volunteer hours, and supported 45 students and 65 local non‑profits through scholarships, grants, and sponsorships.
This award belongs to every member of the Servco team who has taken the time to give back, whether through a Team Serve event or a quiet act of kindness in their community.
